| | Kathryn Kanjo paints a picture for the museum’s future |
| Kathryn Kanjo saw Orange County as an arts destination from the time she was a graduate student, driving from USC to the Newport Harbor Art Museum. So it’s a full-circle moment now, as an experienced museum leader, that Kanjo has returned to help shape the future of the newly formed UC Irvine Langson Orange County Museum of Art. Kanjo stepped into her role as museum director in January, following UC Irvine’s acquisition of the Orange County Museum of Art – previously the Newport Harbor Art Museum that Kanjo visited as a student – in late 2025. “We are Orange County’s premier visual arts museum – spanning time and media, coming together in a way that’s going to be more accessible than ever before,” said Kanjo. “My vision is to share the fullness of the cultural history of this region, and for the people who live here to see art that reflects them.” |

| A new study by UC Irvine researchers found a new Earth-like exoplanet orbiting a star about 25 light-years from our solar system in our home Milky Way galaxy. The planet is about twice the size of Earth, and its atmosphere may be the right thickness for life to survive on its surface. “This one’s exciting,” said Paul Robertson, lead author and associate professor of astronomy. “It’s one of our closest cosmic neighbors. 25 light-years sounds like a long way, but the Milky Way is about 100,000 light-years across, so in that respect it’s our next-door neighbor.” |

| | School of Law recognized in 2026 rankings |
| The School of Law has earned a series of strong rankings, garnering national recognition for excellence in graduate employment, practical training, public service and academic quality. The top-tier results reflect its distinctive approach to legal education – which combines rigorous academics with real-world training and a deep commitment to public interest work – leading to successful employment outcomes for students. “When UC Irvine Law was founded, it had big ambitions to establish itself as a top-tier institution with a culture and curriculum that differs significantly from more traditional law schools,” said Austen Parrish, dean and Chancellor’s Professor of law. “This is such a special law school in an amazingly dynamic legal community, and I couldn’t be prouder of all that our faculty, staff, students and alumni have achieved.” |
