Anteater Virtues: Cultivating character for student success

The Anteater Virtues graphic

The Anteater Virtues Project consists of four intellectual character traits: curiosity, integrity, intellectual humility and intellectual tenacity. The project has recently collaborated with Discovery Cube Museums in Santa Ana and Los Angeles to develop new exhibits. Through the Leveraging Inspiring Futures Through Educational Degrees program, it also offers educational opportunities to incarcerated students in California. “LIFTED is delighted to be facilitating access for our incarcerated students to more and more of the resources that make the main-campus Anteater experience so inclusive and engaged,” said Keramet Reiter, director of LIFTED and professor of criminology, law & society. “Extending access to Anteater Virtues for our incarcerated students is a perfect example of this work.”

His squads have won 11 Big West regular-season crowns and two Big West Tournament championships, earning the Anteaters their only two NCAA Tournament appearances. Turner is looking to return to March Madness this year with a talented, veteran team that’s the preseason choice to win yet another Big West regular-season title (they’re already 3-0). He recently spoke to UC Irvine News about the coming season, his stellar players and their quest to be one of UC Irvine’s best men’s basketball squads ever.
