Future physicians celebrate Match Day

Friday was Match Day at UCI (and other colleges across the country), an event at which soon-to-graduate medical students discover where they’ve been “matched” to serve their residencies. At UCI, 99 future physicians learned where they’ll go after earning their M.D. degrees in May. Seventy will stay in California, including 44 remaining in the UC system and 22 staying at UCI. The most popular specialty is internal medicine (20 students), followed by psychiatry (12) and pediatrics (nine).
