MBA students visit Vietnam

Merage MBA students visit Vietnam's Vin University
Joanna Ho, a professor of accounting with the Paul Merage School of Business, recently led a group of MBA students on a trip to Vietnam’s Vin University. This journey marked a significant stride in academic collaboration and cultural exchange between the two universities. The visit enabled UCI students to gain insights into business education's evolving landscape in Southeast Asia.

Climate initiative partners with Karma Automotive

UCI’s Resilience and Adaptation Development in California initiative, which deepens university-industry collaboration to drive innovation and answer climate challenges, has entered a partnership with Karma Automotive. The agreement “highlights UCI’s commitment to deepening our work with industry,” says UCI Chief Innovation Officer Errol Arkilic (above). As part of Karma’s partnership with RADiCal, the company gave $100,000 to UCI’s Proof of Product program, which supports commercialization of promising research projects at the university.

O.C. Register lauds social ecology dean, alum and student

School of Social Ecology Dean Jon Gould (above, right), alumna Jennifer Friend (center) and Ph.D. candidate Kelsey Morgan have been recognized by The Orange County Register as three of the most influential people in 2023. The newspaper highlighted Gould for overseeing the first big public opinion survey of the county in years; Friend for her leadership role at Project Hope Alliance, a nonprofit dedicated to ending homelessness and ensuring that children continue to have access to the basic resources they need to succeed; and Morgan, CEO of EverFree, a nonprofit that fights human trafficking, for creating Freedom Lifemap, a tech-based program aimed at helping trafficking victims break free from their captors.
