New program offers mobile mental health support on campus

New program offers mobile mental health support on campus
UCI and the Be Well OC Mobile Crisis Response Team are launching an innovative, mobile crisis intervention program aimed at supporting mental health within the campus community. Expected to be fully operational in time for the fall quarter, the program will provide immediate assistance in cases not involving criminal activity or violence, working with both campus and county resources to support individuals in crisis.

How hot dogs and makeup help students learn nursing
Special effects makeup and frankfurters helped give 57 high school students a taste of nursing during UCI’s summer nursing camp at the Sue and Bill Gross School of Nursing. Campers from as far away as Idaho and Texas learned CPR, gave transdermal injections (using hot dogs instead of patients) and simulated bleeding and bruises with makeup.

ICS Summer Academy: an ‘incredible’ college experience

Housed in the Donald Bren School of Information and Computer Sciences, UCI’s ICS Summer Academy hosted 45 local high school students this year
Housed in the Donald Bren School of Information and Computer Sciences, UCI’s ICS Summer Academy hosted 45 local high school students this year. From July 10 to July 21, students learned data processing, data visualization and statistical modeling. From July 24 to Aug. 4, they studied basic ML/AI concepts such as classification, clustering, tree-based modeling, Bayesian networks and AI and games.
