UCI teams prepare for O.C. Sustainability Decathlon
Two engineering groups from UCI – one in partnership with Orange Coast Community College (in photo above) and one from the UCI Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering – are among the 18 teams chosen last year to enter the Orange County Sustainability Decathlon 2023. The homes will be on display at the OC Fair & Event Center when the decathlon begins Oct. 5, so save the date and come cheer on both teams.

Stem-cell therapy for Parkinson’s shows promise in study

Results of a first-in-human, 12-person trial of a stem-cell-derived therapy for Parkinson’s disease show signs of promise. UCI Health neurologist Dr. Claire Henchcliffe, a leading Parkinson’s expert and principal investigator of the clinical trial at the UCI Alpha Clinic, told The Guardian that bemdaneprocel, a dopamine-producing neural cell therapy, proved safe, well-tolerated and showed evidence of clinical improvement.
