UCI-led team is first to detect neutrinos made by particle collider

In a scientific first, a team led by physicists at UCI has detected neutrinos created by a particle collider. The discovery promises to deepen scientists’ understanding of the subatomic particles, which were first spotted in 1956 and play a key role in the process that makes stars burn. The work could also shed light on cosmic neutrinos that travel large distances and collide with the Earth, providing a window on distant parts of the universe.

Closing the gender disparity gap in cardiovascular care for women

Aya Ozaki, an assistant professor of clinical pharmacy, aims to develop a form of multidisciplinary cardiovascular care that focuses on vulnerable populations including underserved women. Ozaki and a team of researchers discovered that various efforts have been made by pharmacists to support underserved populations, yet there was a lack of pharmacist interventions to minimize health disparities in women.

UCI medical students found out their residency destinations during Friday’s Match Day ceremony. They’ll receive their M.D.s in May. Stamos.
